New OneTouch™ Software Personalizes Diabetes Information And Helps Tailor Treatment to The Individual Patient
--Helps Track Blood Glucose-Related Information and Identify Trouble Spots--

Milpitas, Calif., June 11, 2003 - LifeScan, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company, has introduced OneTouch™ Diabetes Management Software, offering healthcare professionals a comprehensive tool to help them make more individualized assessment and treatment decisions for diabetes patients. Using the new software to download blood glucose data from a patient's meter to a medical office computer, healthcare professionals can customize patient care in a way that takes into account specific patient needs and the characteristics of a patient's particular diabetes regimen. In addition, the new software offers specially designed reports that organize information in ways that make it easy to identify a patient's blood glucose trends and trouble spots that might be difficult to see when simply reviewing individual entries in a handwritten logbook.

"As healthcare professionals face the challenge of assessing all the aspects of a patient's diabetes-related information, OneTouch Software can help optimize the office visit by enabling quick downloading of this information into easy-to-read, in-depth reports," said Donald K. Zettervall, RPh, CDE, Director of the Diabetes Center, Old Saybrook, CT. "These reports can help healthcare professionals identify trouble spots that might have been missed from a handwritten logbook, so that they can focus more on providing specific actionable advice and patient education."

Software Enables Healthcare Professionals to Customize Patients' Diabetes Information
To help healthcare professionals tailor their care to individual patients, OneTouch Software provides easy-to-use tabs and icons that enable custom entry of diabetes information for each patient file. The tabs allow a healthcare professional to enter a patient's personal blood glucose target ranges, the patient's diabetes medications by name, and information on up to five different insulin regimens. There is also a place to enter a patient's health insurance information as well as the patient's working and non-working schedules, so that treatment can account for differences in eating and exercise patterns between weekdays, weekends and vacations.

Specially-Designed Reports Can Make Pattern-Spotting Easy
Offering 11 simply-presented yet in-depth reports for viewing a patient's glucose and diabetes information, OneTouch Software with its charts and graphs can help healthcare professionals identify blood glucose trouble spots and patterns that don't automatically surface just from reviewing a patient's raw glucose data in the logbook. These reports can be printed out at the office and used as a counseling tool, or they can even be e-mailed or faxed directly from the software ahead of time. In addition, the reports not only make it easy to spot blood glucose patterns, they can also make patient chart review simple. That's because the reports were designed with input from healthcare professionals, so they present patient information in a manner based on commonly used medical chart formats.
