LIFESCAN DONATED $20,000 TO JDRF FOR BENEFIT WALK AT THE 2007 AACC/ASCLS ANNUAL MEETING

Attendees were encouraged to use the walking they already do around the show floor as a tool in the fight against diabetesSan Diego, Calif. - July 24, 2007 - LifeScan, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company, donated $20,000 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF), the world's leading nonprofit, nongovernmental funder of diabetes research. The donation was the culmination of a LifeScan-sponsored benefit walk held during the three-day meeting of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) and the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS).

Attendees were encouraged to use the walking they already do around the show floor as a tool in the fight against diabetes. For every 100 steps logged by each participant, LifeScan donated $1 to JDRF, which enabled the company to reach its donation goal of $20,000. Katherine Griswold, the San Diego Chapter special events manager of JDRF, accepted the LifeScan check on behalf of the JDRF.

"This fundraiser was a huge success thanks to all of the AACC and ASCLS attendees who participated," says Glenn Johnson, vice president of the Strategic Customer Group (SCG) and Advanced Care Group at LifeScan. "We are thrilled to have been a part of such a terrific collaboration to help find a cure for diabetes."

LifeScan, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company, donated $20,000 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF)During the hundreds of events that took place over three days, attendees did a significant amount of walking. But this year, every step counted when they joined LifeScan and JDRF in "Walk the Floor, Find a Cure." Attendees were surprised at the distance traveled over the three days and were excited to be a part of this important cause to find a cure. Over 1,200 attendees signed up for this event and walked to support juvenile diabetes.

"LifeScan is JDRF's National Family Walk Team sponsor, and this event was the perfect way to kick off our 'Walk to Cure Diabetes' season," Linda Riley, executive director of JDRF San Diego. "Chapters across the U.S. are building corporate and family walk teams and raising money to find a cure for diabetes, culminating in the actual walks this fall. If everyone could make a contribution in the fight against diabetes, it would make our goal that much more attainable. We are thankful to have partnered with LifeScan on such a successful event, and we can't wait to do it again."

About JDRF
JDRF, the world's leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research, was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with juvenile diabetes - a disease that strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin-dependent for life and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. Since inception, JDRF has provided more than $1 billion in direct funding to diabetes research. More than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and research-related education. The Foundation's mission is constant: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
